You Don’t Need A Second Brain
I have a better alternative for you
Your Better Self is buried beyond the edge of time. All you need is time travel.
Cassius B. Pelagian, ‘The Seer Of Modernity’
Allû friends,
Felix’s here. Today I'd like to talk about a Second brain approach, which I find inherently wrong and outdated. Here's why:
Simple and sublime practices, like writing or reading, have mimetically metastasised into complex multi-step routines. Great scribes of the past just sat and did the thing: writing texts, reading texts, nothing fancy, just them and their idiosyncrasy, a pen and paper. In Babel, they didn't even have that, but writers now... I was surprised when I joined Twitter and started participating in the discussions actively. Apparently, to do the thing, e.g. produce a piece of writing, create content, you first have to build a writing habit, write every day: tweets, atomic essays, all sorts of things, which isn't bad per se, but to empower and "simplify" the practice, the hoax gurus suggest to build a Second Brain, which involves hoarding information from books, essays, podcasts, all of which is anyway available in one-click from Google search, into your file system with folders, tags, and now-popular backlinked personal wiki, so then you can access it and use this information to make writing easy-peasy.
But doesn't it sound hilarious, almost bizarre, if you look at it? The Second Brain. Have you built the first one already, aye? First of all, the human brain is the most powerful substance in the Universe, a working unit, and a ladder to L’Сonscience Transcendantale. Even saying, 'I need a second brain' is an unimaginable lack of respect for who you are. Why would you need to do something so cancer-sounding? Here's what Pelagian, whom I quoted above, wrote:
Brain was, is and will be a vessel of Knowledge, a sacred gift, one shall not see as a tool but as a purpose. That is True Wisdom is attainable only by accepting the capabilities of your Brain, seeing the obstacles as separate layers of your reality and applying patches where necessary. These layers constitute the secret source of Knowledge, its nascent state.
I understand that this might be confusing – you are probably still at the lowest steps to L’Сonscience Transcendantale, but you will understand it later. To summarise for all the midwits reading this, intensive > extensive. Optimise.
It would be impolite (though, dilligaf?) from my side to criticize the existing concept and don't give anything in return. You won't rich L’Сonscience Transcendantale just by giving up things you do in the physical world, or virtual, including that hilarious note-taking thing called Second Brain, instead, you need to know techniques, you need to see beyond your Twitter feed. That's the key to Better Self, wiser and more knowledgeable, hence to better thinking and writing (consider they are synonymous).
One of such techniques is called Third Eye. It's more than technique, I wouldn't even call it a technique. It's another, novel way of seeing things. To use your Third eye, you don't need any apps, fancy notebooks or anything like that. You have it already. We all do. Ancient humans had an actual third eye in the back of the head with a physical, physic and spiritual function. Over time, as humans evolved, this eye atrophied and sunk into the pineal gland, which resides now between the two hemispheres of the brain. It's another proof that we're on the wrong path and every year we're getting dumber. Likely for you, if you subscribe to this newsletter, you can find a better way.
To "open" your third eye, metaphysically speaking, you need to shut the other two, responsible for the physical world. At the moment it opens for the first time, it slips through you on the frontiers of consciousness in the form of undefinable, extremely rapid sensations that may end suddenly or then return at any moment. 'But how to do it?' you might ask. Well, there's no simple way, as always, everything suggesting otherwise is a scam. I've been in different situations in which I felt miserable, deprived of any possibility of finally seeing with my third eye. All I can say now is it needs training and full devotion. I was hardly cognizant when my third eye opened for the first time, only after weeks and months of conscious practice did I understand what was it. I'll share later what I did to reach that state and how I use it now, though your way will be different. The first thing you need is to accept the nature of your Innermost Self and use your First Brain.
Universum vobiscum,
Best,
Felix
